Beyond the Walls

Serving our community

Downtown Community Meal

Episcopal Church of Our Savior collaborates with several North Platte area churches to provide a weekly meal for area residents.  Individuals participating in the community meal include residents from the surrounding neighborhood, people not eligible for government food assistance, individuals from two supported living centers, and members from the churches supporting the program (St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and First Christian Church).  Volunteers are involved in food preparation, meal set-up, serving, and clean-up following the meal.

Food Distribution

The pantry program coordinates food packages for those in need by distributing excess food items or food close to expiration donated by Walmart.   Although food items and availability vary from week to week, Episcopal Church of Our Savior has become a dependable location for area residents to secure food items designed to supplement what they can purchase.  Volunteers are needed to assist with packaging and distribution of donated goods.

Prayer Shawl Group

This prayer group meets for fellowship and prayer as they knit or crochet prayer shawls for distribution to individuals with various needs.  Individuals in care facilities, those receiving treatment for cancer or other life-threatening illnesses, together with those who simply need to be reminded that there are people who care have all been the recipients of a shawl.
